If you want to make people happy, write a story about tiny homes.
Tiny homes are inherently fascinating, at least to those of us who grew up with more bedrooms than people.
Almost everyone loves the concept of simplifying their lives and living with less distractions, but almost everyone adds, “but where will I put all my stuff.”
When I found a family of five, not including two dogs, that is determined to live in one of these 336-square-foot microestates built by a local couple, I knew this would generate a lot of hits and it did not disappoint. Tens of thousands of people clicked on the story.
In print, the story ran on the front page of the Sunday newspaper and the headline read, “Tiny Home Builders … Big Plans” but online the headline cut right to the chase.
A family of 5 in this tiny house? A St. Peters company is banking on it
The feature begins with this line: “Samantha Roberts knows exactly how crazy her plan sounds, so hold your comments.” But needless to day, it attracted a ton of attention and comments including a reprint in the Guam Daily Post, as far as I can tell that’s my first byline in Guam.
