YouTube
These are a few videos and channels that I’ve watched, enjoyed and learned something from:
- Dr. Tracey Marks, a psychiatrist with 20+ years of experience, who explores the power of understanding the mind-brain connection and how it is key to building resilience.
- See Why Mindful Eating is Key to Improving Your Wellbeing – This is from Dr. Marks and it’s not about weight control but enjoying your life.
- Why Most People Are Only Giving 70% – This video is from Big Think and it does not mention meditation by name but it has some great reflections on boredom, focus, resilience and the “heckler” in your head, which are all things that meditation addresses quite well. The only caveat I have in recommending this is that the channel is targeted toward entrepreneurial success. I refute that. A lot can be accomplished by living in the present and that may be very different than what you “think” you want. Presence doesn’t have to result in something.

Useful Apps
Insight Timer: A robust and powerful free mobile app and desktop resource for everything from simple timers to connections to global retreats. The paid version has even more options.
Down Dog Meditation: This app includes a variety of fitness and wellness options, including great yoga, Pilates and HIIT companion apps. I like this one for guided meditations because of the options for music or silence. You can also choose the voice and style of music you prefer for your guide.
